Apple to Launch Four New iPhones with OLED Displays

Today, Apple is set to launch four new iPhones, all of which will feature OLED displays provided by Samsung. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will exclusively use Samsung displays, while the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro will use both LG and Samsung displays.

Samsung has been a long-time supplier of iPhone displays, being the world’s largest manufacturer of OLED displays for smartphones. However, Apple has been seeking to diversify its supply chain and used LD displays on some iPhone 14 Pro Max units last year.

Apple had planned to include BOE, a Chinese display firm, in their supply chain this year. BOE was supposed to supply LTPS type OLED screens for the base iPhone 15, but it failed Apple’s quality test. As a result, Samsung has been awarded BOE’s contract and will be the sole supplier of displays for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will use LTPO type OLED displays, with both Samsung and LG supplying these screens. However, there have been reports of production disruptions for LG, which may lead to Samsung receiving a bigger display order from Apple.

The iPhone 15 launch event will take place at 10 AM PT/5 PM GMT/10:30 PM IST.
