Samsung to Introduce ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace with Galaxy S24 Ultra
Samsung has released a promotional video showcasing its new camera feature, ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace. This feature uses 200MP camera sensors to improve video zoom capabilities. The video suggests that the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra will come equipped with this feature, and it also confirms that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
The video demonstrates how ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace utilizes AI technology to track and zoom in on a selected subject in real time. Users can simultaneously capture the zoomed footage and the full field of view, providing a unique camera zoom experience on mobile devices. Furthermore, thanks to Samsung’s Tetra-pixel technology, which is offered by their 200MP ISOCELL cameras, the Zoom Anyplace feature can maintain 4K video resolution up to 4x zoom.
The video also mentions another AI-powered camera feature called “End-to-End (E2E) AI Remosaic.” This feature reduces image processing times for 200MP shots by up to half.
Samsung states that the Zoom Anyplace feature is accelerated by the Qualcomm AI Engine, as the AI tracking technology is proprietary to Qualcomm. The video showcases the newly announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, indicating that the feature will be compatible with phones equipped with Samsung’s 200MP ISOCELL cameras and powered by the new Qualcomm processor.
Currently, it appears that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the only Samsung phone that meets both conditions. The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 200MP camera but features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. As for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+, they will not have 200MP cameras, and some markets, including Europe, will not have the latest Snapdragon chip as they will be shipped with the Exynos 2400.
If Samsung does offer the Zoom Anyplace feature on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the phone should come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor globally. It would be unfair for some users to receive the Exynos 2400 chip, which does not support the new feature. Benchmark listings have also shown the European version of the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the Snapdragon chip, further confirming this information. The Galaxy S24 series is expected to be released in January 2024.
