Samsung Introduces Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro Edition with a Blue Finish
Samsung is preparing to release a special edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 called the “Retro Edition.” The device gets its name from its Galaxy Z Flip 4-inspired finish. Leaked images show the foldable phone with a blue rear panel and a silver aluminum frame featuring a matte finish. However, details about the release date, price, and availability of the Retro Edition are currently unknown.
Expanded Color Options for the Galaxy Z Flip 5
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 was launched alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in July of this year. Like previous models, Samsung offers the clamshell foldable in a variety of colors. Customers can select from Cream, Graphite, Lavender, and Mint colors, available almost everywhere. Additionally, Samsung’s official website offers the phone in Blue, Gray, Green, and Yellow, providing even more options for buyers to express their personality and preferences. Now, the Korean company is introducing a completely new look to the foldable with a blue hue that exudes a retro feel.
Similar Finish to the Galaxy Z Flip 4
The leaked images suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro Edition will have the same finish as the navy blue Galaxy Z Flip 4, featuring a silver frame. Samsung had previously offered this color combination through its Bespoke Edition program, which allows buyers to customize the color combinations of the back panels and frames. The popularity of the “navy blue + silver” combination may have influenced the decision to give the current model a similar finish. However, it’s important to note that the new Flip has a larger cover display, so the blue rear panel only covers the lower half. The Galaxy Z Flip 4, on the other hand, has a smaller cover display that enables users to customize the color of the top half as well. This change could explain the absence of a Bespoke Edition for this year’s model.
Limited Launch of the Special Edition
Samsung has previously released special edition foldables, often in collaboration with brands and celebrities, offering unique colors and customizations. These special editions were typically available only in select markets, with a limited number of units sold in regions where the partner brands and celebrities have a large fanbase. It is uncertain if the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro Edition will follow the same pattern. Although it doesn’t seem to be a collaboration with anyone, Samsung may offer the device as part of a bundle with unique accessories. The company may also launch the phone in markets where its foldables are already popular. According to the report, the special edition foldable is expected to debut “in the coming weeks,” and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
