The HONOR Magic V2 first hit the scene in July of the previous year. It was initially unveiled in China. Later, in September, HONOR showcased it at IFA in Berlin. They had promised a global version of the Magic V2, and it’s finally here.
The global version of the HONOR Magic V2 is now official. It was launched in Europe after a considerable wait. The announcement was made in Leipzig, Germany. The HONOR Magic V2 comes in two versions. There’s the regular model, and then there’s the Porsche Design variant. The latter was shown but hasn’t been announced globally yet. This phone was first announced in China earlier this month, along with the Magic6 series.
The Porsche Design model shares the same specs as the regular model. However, it has a different backplate and a different camera island. It’s likely to launch globally. It also boasts more RAM than the standard model. The HONOR Magic V2 offers 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The Porsche Design variant takes it up a notch with 1TB of storage.
The HONOR Magic V2 is available in Black and Purple. The Black variant features a Vegan Leather backplate, while the Purple model has a glass backplate. The Porsche Design model sports a gray-colored backplate and a glass back.
The HONOR Magic V2 is impressively thin. It’s only 9.9mm thick when folded, at least for the Vegan Leather model. The glass model is slightly thicker at 10.1mm. The phone’s weight varies between 231 and 237 grams, depending on the variant. The Vegan Leather variant is the lighter one. The Porsche Design version weighs in at 234 grams.
This smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It comes with Android 13 pre-installed, with MagicOS 7.2 on top. The phone houses a 5,000mAh battery, which is quite an achievement. It’s a silicon-carbon battery, which is why HONOR managed to fit it inside.
The phone features three cameras on the back and two 120Hz LTPO displays. The main camera is a 50-megapixel unit, backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit, and a 20-megapixel telephoto camera (2.5x optical zoom). Each display has a 16-megapixel selfie camera (hole punch cutouts).
The front includes a 7.92-inch 2156 x 2344 Foldable LTPO OLED display (up to 120Hz refresh rate). It can reach up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness. The cover panel measures 6.43 inches, and it’s an LTPO OLED display as well (up to 120Hz refresh rate). This display has a max brightness of 2,500 nits.
Stereo speakers are part of the package, along with a side-facing fingerprint scanner. The phone supports 66W wired charging, and the charger is included. It also supports 5W reverse wired charging.
The HONOR Magic V2 doesn’t come cheap. It’s priced at €1,999 / £1,699.99 in the UK. It goes on sale today. The price tag for the Porsche Design variant is still unknown. Its proper launch is expected at MWC 2024 in Barcelona.
HONOR hasn’t mentioned availability for other markets. The global variant of the phone is here, with global software, but it’s only launching in Europe, at least for now.
