Samsung releases September 2023 update for Galaxy S21

Samsung Releases September 2023 Security Patch for Galaxy S21 Series

Samsung has recently rolled out the September 2023 security patch for the Galaxy S21 series. The update is currently available in Europe and select Asian countries, with a wider rollout expected soon, including in the US.

The September SMR for the Galaxy S21 lineup comes with the firmware build number G99*BXXS9EWI1 in Europe and Asia. While the update is already widely available in Europe, only a few Asian countries have received it so far. Samsung is expected to expand the rollout to more markets in the coming days.

The latest update brings security fixes for more than 60 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family, with four critical fixes provided by Google. Most of the remaining vulnerabilities were classified as “high-severity” issues by both Samsung and Android.

Samsung’s September Update Also Available for Galaxy A71

In addition to the Galaxy S21 series, Samsung has also started rolling out the September security update for the Galaxy A71 in India. The update comes with the build number A715FXXU8CVI3 and has an OTA file size of 485MB.

Although the exact details of the update are not mentioned in the official changelog, it is expected to include minor bug fixes or optimizations. The Galaxy A71 will no longer receive feature updates, as it arrived with Android 10 and received updates until Android 13.

The September update for the Galaxy A71 will be available in other countries shortly, including the 5G variant of the phone. Samsung has also released the new SMR for other eligible flagship models and some mid-rangers, such as the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72. If you haven’t received the update yet, you can manually check for it from the Settings app.
