USwitch Study on Most Popular Phones for Mobile Gaming
A recent study by wireless carrier comparison service ‘USwitch’ determined the most popular phones for mobile gaming, and found the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra to be the top choice. This conclusion was reached by analyzing the most popular phones in the UK using a service called CompareDial, and evaluating each device’s specs such as screen size, battery capacity, and RAM amount.
Surprising Lack of Gaming Phones in Top Rankings
Notably, there were no actual gaming phones in the ranking list, with the list being mainly populated by Samsung devices. This is unexpected, as gaming phones like the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate or those from brands like RedMagic were not included in the rankings.
Top 5 Most Popular Phones for Mobile Gaming
The top 5 phones for mobile gaming were all from Samsung, with iPhone 15 Pro Max being the only Apple device. Given that Apple has a thriving mobile gaming ecosystem, its inclusion on the list is not surprising. The remaining devices were the Galaxy S23 Plus, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy S20 FE 2022.
Accuracy of the Study
While the devices featured in the study have good gaming specs, it’s worth noting that their popularity for gaming is based on purchases in the UK and may not accurately reflect actual usage for gaming. Additionally, the study did not take into account purchases in regions where mobile gaming is most prevalent, such as the US, Japan, China, South Korea, and Taiwan.
