Vivo X Fold 3 Might Be the Lightest Book-Style Foldable Phone

HONOR’s got the lightest foldable smartphone out there right now. It’s called the HONOR Magic V2. Both the glass and vegan leather models weigh less than 240 grams. But, the vegan leather one is a bit lighter, tipping the scales at 231 grams.

Now, there’s a buzz that Vivo might snatch the title. A new rumor suggests that the Vivo X Fold 3 could be the world’s lightest book-style foldable.

The source? Digital Chat Station. They’re a well-known and reliable Chinese tipster. So, it’s not hard to buy into this. The tipster didn’t just spill the beans on the weight range, but also the thickness.

He didn’t exactly name the Vivo X Fold 3. But, he did mention a phone that’s gonna be super light. And that’s why GizmoChina thinks it’s the Vivo X Fold 3.

So, what’s the weight? The Vivo X Fold 3 will be in the 22x grams range. In other words, it’ll weigh less than 230 grams. That makes it lighter than the HONOR Magic V2. When unfolded, it’ll be 5mm thick. And when folded, it’ll be 10.5mm thick.

But, it won’t be thinner than the HONOR Magic V2. The thinnest Magic V2 model is 4.7mm thick when unfolded, and 9.9mm when folded. So, it looks like HONOR will still be the king of thinness.

The Vivo X Fold 2 was launched in April last year. We’re not sure if Vivo will wait that long to release its successor. But, it could happen. The Vivo X Fold 3 might be launched towards the end of Q1 or in early Q2 this year.

What’s under the hood? Likely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. But, nothing’s confirmed yet. There’s even chatter about two Vivo X Fold 3 devices launching this year. A regular one and a ‘Pro’ one.

One last thing. The Vivo X Fold and Vivo X Fold 2 didn’t make it to global markets. They were only available in China. We’re hoping that changes with the Vivo X Fold 3. But, we’ll have to wait and see.
