Xiaomi’s First Clamshell Foldable Nears Launch

Xiaomi’s first-ever clamshell foldable smartphone is inching closer to its launch. It’s not just a rumor anymore – it’s been spotted in a regulatory filing. And guess what? It’s gonna have satellite connectivity.

So, the name’s Xiaomi MIX Flip. Or so we hear. It’s been seen hanging around MIIT in China. The model number? 2311BPN23C. You might’ve seen it before on the IMEI database. It’s been linked to the ‘Mix Flip’ name. So, it’s probably gonna be called ‘MIX Flip’ when it hits the market.

There’s been some chatter about this device. A tipster said it’s gonna be “extremely thin and portable”. But honestly, we don’t know much else. There was a sketch of the device that popped up in September. But it looked kinda weird, so we’re not sure if it’s legit.

Rumor has it that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It’s not the latest from Qualcomm, but it’s not too far off either.

As for when it’s gonna launch, we’re hearing 2024. But we’re not sure exactly when. It’s already been spotted on a few certification websites, so maybe it’ll launch in the first half of 2024.

The device is expected to pack some serious specs, but it probably won’t be the most powerful foldable Xiaomi has ever released. That title will likely stay with the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3.

We’re expecting two or three cameras on the back and a pretty nice main display with a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s also gonna be a secondary panel, but we’re not sure how big it’ll be.

And knowing Xiaomi, fast charging will probably be included. But wireless charging? Not so sure. The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 has it, but the Xiaomi MIX Flip might not. We’ll just have to wait and see.
